Share your expertise. Inspire fellow school counselors, administrators, and educators. Contribute strategies that make an immediate impact in schools across the Southeast. We welcome engaging, practical presentations that support student success and strengthen the counseling profession.

What We Are Looking For

The Southeast School Counselor and Administrator Leadership Institute is requesting proposals for presentations that promote evidence-based programs in the domains of academic, career, and personal/social development. Presentations should:

  • Highlight the latest techniques and practices that are relevant, innovative, and inclusive/multicultural in the field of school counseling.
  • Assist school counselors in demonstrating one or more school counseling standards.
  • Showcase proven programs, current research, learning outcomes, or practical skills of value to counselors (Pre-K through postsecondary), as well as district personnel, graduate students, and counselor educators.

Note: Presentations must include practical ideas or hands-on activities that school counselors, administrators, and educators can take away and use immediately.

  • Evaluating your school counseling programs
  • Closing the achievement and opportunity gap through effective strategies
  • Using data to deliver an effective counseling program
  • Utilizing social media to market your school counseling program
  • Managing your school counseling program with technology
  • Using effective time management skills for your school counseling program
  • Tracking your time on task as a school counselor
  • Using Mindsets & Behaviors in your classroom lessons
  • Using effective lessons for bullying and cyberbullying lessons
  • Using effective lessons for teen dating and violence for middle school
  • Using effective Lessons for students suffering with grief/trauma
  • Creating your own make and take lessons
  • Setting up small groups in your school
  • Using MTSS effectively with your role as a school counselor
  • Reducing Test Anxiety
  • Using effective Ideas for individual counseling
  • Working with students who are failing
  • Postsecondary awareness strategies for all grade levels
  • Improving ACT and SAT scores
  • Tracking and measuring graduation data
  • Understanding graduation requirements and endorsement
  • Using effective ideas for FAFSA including FAFSA night, announcements, parent meetings, etc.
  • Developing a Career/College Fair at your school
  • Helping Transient Students (Foster, Migrant, Homeless, etc.)
  • Using effective school counselor interventions for students such as discipline, suicide, alcohol/drug abuse, teen pregnancy, self-harm, etc.
  • Using effective strategies for Tier 2 and/or Tier 3 social/emotional interventions
  • Helping students, staff and/or parents manage through a crisis
  • Working with the MTSS team
  • Working with the SEL and SEL curriculum in counseling
  • Working with district-level leaders
  • Growing and evaluating your school counselors
  • Working with new leaders (lead counselors, supervisors, directors)
  • Growing your own leadership skills
  • Leading trainings for teachers and parents
  • Building community partnerships
  • Advocating to reduce systemic barriers to student success
  • Using and learning self-care techniques
  • Working with difficult parents
  • Advocating for your school counseling program

Required Materials - Resume

In addition to completing the proposal form below, applicants are required to submit a PDF of their vitae or resume. The document should include degree(s), educational training, certifications, and licenses.

Review Process

We will convene a committee to review and select conference sessions. Applicants will be notified via email by NCYI, the organization managing the conference, regarding acceptance by the middle of December.

The Lead Presenter will receive all communications and is responsible for sharing information with co-presenters, if applicable.

Information for Selected Presenters

Please review the information below before submitting your proposal. These details outline expectations and general procedures that apply to selected presenters. Additional instructions and deadlines will be provided in the acceptance email.

Travel & Hotel Arrangements

Presenters are responsible for making their own hotel reservations and covering all travel-related expenses.

Co-Presenters

All session-related communication will be sent to the Lead Presenter, who is responsible for sharing information with any co-presenters. Co-presenters must be identified at the time of proposal submission or submitted at least one month prior to the conference.

Wi-Fi & Audio/Visual Equipment

Meeting rooms are arranged theater-style and include a projector, screen, A/V cart, and power supply. Presenters are responsible for bringing their own laptop and any necessary adapters. If your session requires sound or additional equipment, you may provide it yourself or coordinate directly with the hotel at your own expense. Complimentary Wi-Fi is available for presenters only; however, connectivity may be limited, so sessions should not rely heavily on internet access.

Session Materials (Handouts & Slides)

If you plan to use handouts or presentation slides, upload instructions will be provided in your acceptance email. Materials will be made available to attendees at the conference.

Discounted Presenter Registration Rates

Presenters may register at the discounted presenter rate listed below. Registration includes full access to conference sessions and meal functions.

Lead Presenters may register at the discounted presenter rate listed below. Co-presenters may register at the standard conference rate. Registration includes full access to conference sessions and meal functions.

Presenters may choose to present their session and depart without registering. In this case, no registration fee will be charged; however, access to additional sessions, conference materials, name badge, and meal functions will not be included.
